Trump and Netanyahu meet for the first time since Iran war began
US President Donald Trump has sat down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a meeting the White House described as “positive and productive”.
US-Israel ties have been frayed recently over policy in their joint war against Iran.
Netanyahu has downplayed reports of any such tension, and described the meeting as “excellent” and “one of the best conversations” he’s ever had with President Trump.
The Israeli prime minister said the conversation was grounded in “mutual support” and an “understanding of the common goal of ensuring that Iran does not have nuclear weapons”.
