In a sign of deepening strategic alignment amid rising Middle East tensions, Andrey Belousov, Russia’s defence minister, reaffirmed Moscow’s backing for Tehran during talks with Iran’s Deputy Defence Minister Reza Talaei-Nik on Tuesday in Kyrgyzstan. According to state news agency reports, Belousov stressed that Russia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and insisted that the ongoing conflict should be resolved through diplomatic channels.
