Threat of major explosion from toxic chemical tank is eliminated, officials say
A damaged tank containing dangerous, toxic chemicals is no longer at risk of a “catastrophic” explosion, officials said during a press conference Monday. As a result, some people who live near the tank are no longer under an evacuation order, although thousands still are. Officials said while the worst-possible scenario of a major explosion has been eliminated, there is still the possibility for a smaller blast or fire. Residents are urged to follow all official orders and exercise caution. Thomas Umberg, a California state senator, joins LiveNOW’s Andy Mac to discuss the updates on this incident that has impacted tens of thousands of Californians.
