Thousands sign petition to ban Mamdani from 25th 9/11 anniversary
An online petition asking the New York City Mayor not to attend the 25th 9/11 anniversary is attracting a lot of attention.
It asks organisers to carefully consider Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s participation, citing concern over his “positions” and “associations”.
Mr Mamdani says he plans to “proudly honour the families” and stand alongside them at the 25th anniversary.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum says commemorations have always been free of politics.
