A Tesla driver allegedly blamed the car’s auto-assist system when he was pulled over for a speeding violation.

Bodycam footage shows the red vehicle stopped on the road as a police officer approached the motorist in Parker, Colorado, on July 21 at around 2:30 pm local time.

The officer told the driver he was travelling too fast, but the motorist insisted he was not driving.

The driver said: ‘I wasn’t driving. That’s assisted driving. Autopilot, sir.’

The officer replied: ‘You’re in charge, bro. It doesn’t matter. You’re in the driver’s seat. You can blame the car all you want.

In a statement, the Parker Police Department said: ‘Recently, one of our officers stopped a driver travelling at 64 mph in a 45-mph zone. The driver was adamant they weren’t responsible because their vehicle’s driver-assistance features were engaged, and even demanded to speak to a supervisor.
