Sydney and Melbourne home values drop as housing market cools in May | ABC NEWS

Property prices dipped nearly 1 per cent in Sydney and Melbourne in May, as the national housing market stalled for the first time since January 2025.
The latest report by market research firm Cotality shows home values flatlined as clearance rates declined across the country over the month.
Cotality’s research director Tim Lawless says there is a stalemate in the market, as buyers are reluctant to enter the market in anticipation of further discounts while sellers hold onto stock due to rising interest rates and the government’s proposed tax reforms.
