SENTENCING for former Limpopo police officer Malemela, accused of attempted murder after what he did to his ex-girlfriend left her with critical injuries in 2024, has been set for 17 September. Malemela, who was stationed at Mankweng Police Station at the time of the incident, appeared before Mankweng Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 September.
The court set the sentencing date after he was convicted in connection with the shooting of his former girlfriend. The former cop is expected to return to court on 17 September for sentencing.
Will the court deliver maximum punishment, or will his former status as a law enforcement officer work in his favor? 17 September will reveal whether justice truly exists for survivors of police violence.
