Special envoy warns “persistent” Islamophobia can’t be ignored any longer
Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia Aftab Malik has released his long-awaited report, calling for it to be a “historic” turning point in tackling the widespread impacts of Islamophobia in Australia.
The report draws on the experiences of Muslim Australians, documenting research, evidence, and personal accounts that point to rising discrimination.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the government will “carefully consider” its 54 recommendations, which include calls for action across all major government agencies.
