A South Australian man is on trial for the murder of his 71-year-old father, who was stabbed six times at his Reynella East retirement village on Christmas Day 2022. David Eldridge allegedly called Triple Zero to report the killing and sent a text message to a friend confessing to the crime. The prosecution argues Eldridge was methamphetamine-affected and angry about losing his inheritance after his father sold the family home, while the defence claims he acted in self-defence.
