Solovyov explains why Putin isn’t like other dictators | Break the Fake
Vladimir Solovyov has made an astonishing discovery: Vladimir Putin is apparently a remarkably modest man who supposedly does everything he can to prevent a cult of personality from developing around him. And who better to praise the Russian president’s humility than the Kremlin’s most devoted television propagandist?
Putin’s official asset declaration lists two apartments, a garage, a Russian-made Niva, and an old Soviet car trailer. Quite the humble lifestyle for the man running Russia!
But then come the palaces, superyachts, and luxury estates associated with Putin’s inner circle. His friends, relatives, and loyal associates are linked to enormous wealth and lavish properties that Putin reportedly visits. Officially, he owns very little. In practice, however, it seems he has some exceptionally generous friends.
Meanwhile, millions of Russians struggle with deteriorating infrastructure, heating problems, and inadequate sewage systems. Yet state television invites them to admire a supposedly humble leader whose officially declared possessions barely suggest a life of luxury.
In a new episode of Break the Fake, Benjamin Lee examines Solovyov’s praise of Putin, the Russian president’s official assets, and the striking contrast between the image of modesty promoted on state television and the extraordinary wealth surrounding the Kremlin.
