Shouting match between US and Cuba at UN assembly | DW News
US envoy Mike Waltz and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez clashed over the US economic, commercial and financial embargo on Cuba during the UN General Assembly. Ahead of an annual resolution calling for an end to the embargo, Waltz blamed Cuba’s economic hardship on its own government, sparking a heated exchange that prompted Assembly President Khalilur Rahman to briefly suspend the meeting.
The UN resolution to lift the US trade embargo on Cuba has won by a wide margin every year for decades, but a majority in US Congress would be required to end the trade ban.
