Should poorer Aussies be forced to accept substandard housing?
Shadow Housing Minister Andrew Bragg is doubling down on the Coalition’s dramatic plan to speed up new builds across Australia, telling Radio National poorer Australians needed to accept living in substandard housing.
The comments from the Liberal senator came a day after he revealed the Opposition’s idea to cut the national housing code from 2000 pages to just 80.
The Coalition thinks it will help builders get moving on constructing new homes by cutting red tape and lengthy approvals.
But the Australian Council of Social Service said the policy would impact renters, locking them into expensive power bills as the only way to keep their homes comfortable. #housing #renter #housingcode #auspol #coalition
