Senior citizen takes helicopter to Cabela’s #shorts
A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded Saturday evening to a report of a helicopter landing in the Cabela’s parking lot in the Village of Richfield. The pilot, a 69-year-old Rosendale man, told deputies he flew to the store because “the drive was too long.” Officials said the pilot was properly licensed, landed safely, followed FAA regulations, and answered questions about helicopter landing requirements. No violations or arrests were reported, making for an unusual but legal shortcut to a shopping trip.
