Self-proclaimed pastor and two wives back in court

Self-proclaimed pastor Caiphus Mkhawane and his two co-accused wives, Ntsako Makhubela and Amanda Mnguni, are expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrates’ Court this morning. The three face several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and fraud.

The charges relate to the attack of a woman, the death of her baby and funeral policies allegedly taken out in the woman’s name. Mkhawane and Makhubela also face charges of human trafficking, premeditated murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The case was previously postponed to allow Ntsako Makhubela to undergo a mental assessment to determine whether she is fit to stand trial. SABC News Reporter Nonhlanhla Ntshingila is in Atteridgeville and joins us live.
