Selangor awaits registration of Myanmar refugees, stateless persons before further action, says MB
The Selangor government is awaiting the Home Ministry’s registration of Myanmar refugees and stateless individuals under the Refugee Registration Document before deciding on measures to manage the community, including their business activities.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state was compiling district-level data to submit to the ministry for further action with relevant agencies and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
He said licensing and permits for the community fell under Federal Government jurisdiction, while any repatriation plans must also take humanitarian considerations into account.
