School bus chugs through flooded streets as heavy storms batter Indiana #shorts
A school bus was seen chugging through several inches of floodwater in eastern Indiana on Wednesday, August 12, as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning in the area.
Desiraye Allred told Storyful it was her son’s first day of school in Muncie, and he was scheduled to board the bus around 7 am.
As the bus arrived on the flooded street outside their home, its doors opened, and Allred said “waves rushed in,” adding that the bus driver said there would be a two-hour delay for pickups.
“I couldn’t believe that they had those bus drivers out in this [weather],” she said.
School in Muncie was later canceled and remained closed the following day, Thursday, August 13.
The NWS reported major flooding along portions of the Upper White and Big Blue rivers on Thursday.
