Russia’s first AI robot falls on its face during debut walkout
The first Russian “humanoid” robot powered by artificial intelligence stumbled and landed on its face during its debut walkout in Moscow on Tuesday.
AIDOL, as the designers named the robot, walked out on stage to the Rocky theme song and attempted to raise its right arm and wave to the audience, but appeared to lose balance and fell face down on stage as the song reached its climax.
Two human assistants who accompanied AIDOL on stage rushed to help it up.
Russian media quoted Vladimir Vitukhin, CEO of the tech company that developed the robot, as saying he hoped “this mistake will turn into an experience”.
The developers claim AIDOL is able to perform three basic human functions – move on its feet, manipulate objects and communicate with humans.
