Russia’s ambitions go far beyond Donbas and extend to NATO itself | News in Depth
Europe is preparing for the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine. As early as next week, thousands of troops from the Coalition of the Willing will take part in exercises in Poland as part of preparations for a potential post-war mission. At the same time, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are expected to arrive in Brussels for consultations ahead of the upcoming Ukraine talks in Abu Dhabi. According to Stuart Dowell, Political Editor at TVP World, the greatest achievement of the Abu Dhabi talks would be securing a follow-up round of negotiations at the leaders’ level.
According to Dowell, despite sending mixed signals about Europe’s role in the process, Moscow still views Europe primarily as another arena for pressure. He argues that Vladimir Putin’s objectives extend far beyond the Donbas and include forcing NATO to roll back its military infrastructure to its pre-1997 position.
Join Ashim Kumar and Stuart Dowell in News in Depth as they discuss Europe’s preparations for a possible ceasefire, the diplomatic road to Abu Dhabi, Russia’s broader security demands, and whether Europe can secure a meaningful role in shaping Ukraine’s future.
