Richard Marles ‘hopeful’ for peace amid reported US-Iran talks
Defence Minister Richard Marles reacts to reports the US and Iran will resume peace talks in Pakistan.
“We are very much hoping that events can be put on a path to peace in the Middle East, and the ceasefire in place is obviously a good thing, but it’s a ceasefire which is fragile,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia.
“All of us want to see that become permanent, and we also obviously want to see the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the global fuel supply returned to a place of normality.
“We are very hopeful about what will play out in terms of those negotiations.”
