RBA tipped to hike rates to 18-year-high; Craig Silvey jailed for seven months | 7NEWS
The eyes of anxious mortgage holders will be on the RBA today, with markets putting the chances of a Melbourne Cup day rise at 80 per cent. Economists project the cash rate will rise by 0.25 per cent to an 18-year high of 4.85 per cent.
Australian children’s author, Craig Silvey, has been sentenced to seven months in jail for possessing and distributing child exploitation material. The WA District Court heard confronting details of Silvey’s offending for the first time, including how he shared graphic images in an online chatroom on an adult website.
