‘Rapid Escalation’: U.S. Issues SOS For American Citizens In Gulf As New Fighting Explodes | Watch
The US Mission in Saudi Arabia has issued a fresh security alert as renewed hostilities between the kingdom and Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis continue to threaten civilian infrastructure and travel. The American mission cited Houthi attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure that it says have caused civilian casualties and severe travel disruption. Washington is warning that the security situation could change with little warning and that an incident could rapidly escalate beyond the location initially targeted. The advisory comes after repeated Houthi missile and drone attacks forced Saudi air defences into action across the kingdom, including threats involving civilian aviation. For travellers, Washington’s warning is increasingly about the wider consequences of an attack: air-defence activity, sudden security alerts, disruption around airports and rapidly changing conditions across Saudi Arabia.
