Ramaswamy doubles down on Ohio ad featuring opponent’s estranged mother
Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is backing a controversial political ad featuring the estranged mother of his opponent, Amy Action.
The ad, which features Donna Arthur, Acton’s birth mother, calling Acton “a liar,” the Associated Press reported. The spot, which premiered on Tuesday, insinuates the Democrat has mental health issues. Criticism to the ad came from both Democrats and Republicans.
Acton’s estranged mother lost custody following the 1978 arrest and indictment of Acton’s stepfather for raping Acton, the AP reported.
Meantime, Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday voiced disgust toward fellow Republicans criticizing the ad, urging them to stop “whining” and focus on winning the upcoming election.
