Putin’s ‘Doomsday’ Submarine Hits The Seas; Khabarovsk With Nuclear-Powered Torpedoes In Action
Russia has begun factory sea trials of the nuclear-powered Khabarovsk submarine, a strategic vessel designed to carry Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater drones. The submarine entered the water on August 17 after years of construction at Sevmash in Severodvinsk. Khabarovsk reportedly carries six Poseidon launch tubes, giving Russia another nuclear delivery option that operates beneath the ocean instead of following conventional ballistic missile trajectories. The Poseidon system was unveiled by Vladimir Putin in 2018 and is designed to challenge missile-defence systems. Khabarovsk is expected to join Russia’s Pacific Fleet, potentially expanding Moscow’s underwater nuclear deterrence capability and strategic reach.
