Putin Unleashes ‘SECRET WEAPON’ Against Ukrainian Aircraft; ’24 Warplanes Smoked’ In Just 7 Days
Russia has revealed new details about a previously undisclosed long-range targeting tactic that it says enabled its S-400 air defence system to shoot down 24 Ukrainian aircraft in a single week during 2023. According to an article published in the Russian Defence Ministry’s journal Voyennaya Mysl, S-400 launchers were deployed in concealed forward “ambush” positions and used targeting data from external sensors, including A-50U airborne early warning aircraft, to engage targets beyond the radar horizon. The report claims the tactic allowed Russian forces to strike Ukrainian fighter jets shortly after take-off, including 10 MiG-29s in one day. The claims have not been independently verified, but the publication offers a rare look into how Russia says it has adapted its air-defence doctrine during the war in Ukraine.
