Putin bans Russia’s anti-war opposition | Eastern Express
Russia’s only officially registered anti-war party lasted just five days on the parliamentary ballot before the Supreme Court removed it from September’s election.
Yabloko had survived for years as a small liberal opposition force that posed little threat to Kremlin control, even as its members faced mounting repression. But its peace platform suddenly began attracting support from anti-war Russians and prominent opposition figures abroad. The ban comes as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warns that Ukrainian intelligence expects Moscow to launch a major new mobilization after the parliamentary vote, a claim Russia disputes.
