What started as a R41 million municipal project has spiralled into a R184 million procurement disaster for Polokwane Municipality. The original contractor, Bo Mamohlala, was sidelined after requesting a R16 million variation due to unexpected semi-wetland issues on the site. The municipality then appointed Brunel Engineering at four times the original contractor’s cost, yet the softball stadium shows no visible progress since work resumed in April, raising serious questions about tender processes and project management.
