Police cruiser intercepts alleged erratic driver’s car before it endangers Riverhead festivalgoers
Riverhead police managed to intercept and collide with a car driven by a woman that was threatening to plow into pedestrians gathered for Riverhead’s annual Polish festival Sunday, police said.
Blanca Jimenez-Tapia was charged with reckless endangerment and multiple vehicle and traffic law offenses after police spotted her speeding in an area closed to vehicular traffic near the festival site about 10:30 a.m. A marked police vehicle intercepted the woman’s car, resulting in a collision, police said.
