#breakingnews #france #protest #paris
France has descended into chaos as mass demonstrations sweep the country, with protesters clashing with police, tear gas fired and water cannons deployed.
Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon and other cities in the latest wave of unrest over the cost of living, school conditions and growing anger at President Emmanuel Macron’s government. Nearly 1,000 arrests were reported after clashes broke out late on Saturday, with French police using tear gas and water cannon to disperse crowds in several locations.
While much of the day remained peaceful, tensions escalated in parts of France as barricades were set alight, officers confronted masked youths, and authorities deployed around 70,000 police to prevent a repeat of the major riots, looting and destruction seen the previous weekend. Protesters said they were demanding change, citing poverty, rising living costs, heavy taxation and frustration with the government.
This video covers the latest France protest news, including events in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon, police response, reported injuries, mass arrests, and the wider political pressure facing Macron ahead of the presidential election campaign.
