Poland activates air defense amid Russian attack on Ukraine | Morning Report
Poland’s Operational Command of the Armed Forces announced early Saturday morning that it had concluded its military aviation operations. Polish and allied aircraft, as well as ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on high alert amid Russian air raids on Ukrainian territory on Friday night, which left at least 14 wounded and six likely trapped under the rubble in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is questioning U.S. loyalty toward NATO. He warns that a Russian attack on a member state could happen within months.
Tom Rose, the U.S. ambassador to Poland, commented in a post on X that Prime Minister Donald Tusk raises a very serious and thoughtful question. He stated that the U.S. has spent $13 trillion defending Europe since World War II and will spend about $100 billion on the 100,000 U.S. soldiers in Europe, 9000 of which are in Poland this year. He concluded by asking whether America’s allies are as loyal to the U.S. as they expect the U.S. to be to them.
