‘People feel they’re going backwards’: Premier weighs in on One Nation rise
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas says frustration over living standards and the status quo is driving voters towards populist alternatives.
“I think a sense of frustration, I think in an environment where people’s living standards are where they feel they’re going backwards,” Mr Malinauskas told Sky News Australia’s Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“There’s a sense of frustration at the status quo and that invites an attraction towards simplistic and populist solutions.
“Truth be told, populism and simplicity to deal with complex problems more often than not doesn’t get you very far.”
