Pacific tensions rise after nations fail to condemn China missile test
Otago University International Relations Professor Robert Patman says tensions have risen after foreign ministers meeting in Fiji failed to agree on a joint statement condemning China’s recent ballistic missile test in the Pacific Ocean.
Most of the 18 countries present at the meeting expressed concern about China’s test, but two refused to sign on to the statement.
“They failed to issue a joint resolution that’s led to considerable frustration,” Mr Patman told News24.
