Over 26 000 runners tackle Nelson Mandela Marathon
The inaugural Nelson Mandela Marathon saw more than 26 000 runners take up the challenge of a full marathon, a half and other shorter distances.
The event, driven by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, will be held annually in Cape Town, but with a second international city also hosting a marathon every year to create a global series.
It is the first race of its kind in the world that is based on values, with the late statesman as the role model.
SABC News’ Mariska Botha reports from Cape Town.
