Operation Ubuntu criticises police response to vigilante groups: Dano De Waal
Operation Ubuntu coordinators have criticised police for failing to take decisive, sustained action against unlawful vigilante groups targeting foreign nationals.
Gauteng organiser, General Moyo, says the group is calling for an end to violence against migrants and stronger protection for vulnerable communities across the continent.
Over 60 organisations representing communities around the country are expected to rise in unity under the banner of Operation Ubuntu, with marches taking place in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
Moyo says they’ll also hand over a memorandum to Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, in which they demand among others, an end to xenophobic attacks and forced evictions.
