New vision shows engine flying off plane in deadly crash

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released video of the UPS plane crash incident in Louisville, Kentucky, showing one of the aircraft’s engines flying off shortly after takeoff.
The surveillance footage, which was released at half speed, shows the left engine and left pylon separating from the left wing after the plane lifted off the runway.
The video was released as part of the investigative hearing into the November 4, 2025, crash, which killed 14 people.
In the wake of the disaster, UPS completely retired its remaining fleet of MD-11 aircraft. The NTSB’s investigative hearing is a massive step forward, but a final, comprehensive report detailing the definitive probable cause and safety recommendations is expected to take several more months to complete.
