New Freedom Campaign targets poverty and crime


Faith and civil society leaders have committed to going beyond church walls in pursuit of justice, equality and true freedom from poverty and crime that’s impacting millions of South Africans.

Freedom Day celebrates South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994.

The Western Cape Province Council of Churches, and the Cape Crime Crisis Coalition, have launched a New Freedom Campaign in Cape Town.

They say that while the country attained political freedom in 1994, the freedoms of safety, economic well-being and prosperity for all, remain elusive.
