New bill against unlawful occupation of buildings

The Department of Human Settlements has defended the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Amendment Bill – saying it will protect both land owners and occupants. The department gave an update to the media in Pretoria – on the processes so far now that the bill has been gazzetted. It says the bill seeks to ensure that the unlawful occupation of buildings, private and government land is legally done away with.
