Nepal’s new interim leader vowed to follow protesters’ demands to “end corruption” on September 14, 2025. Sushila Karki was sworn in as the interim head of the country after “Gen Z” youth demonstrations ousted her predecessor. The 73-year-old former chief justice has been tasked with restoring order and addressing protesters’ demands for a corruption-free future ahead of elections in six months. She also said that she would order an investigation into the unrest to see if there was an organised effort behind the riots.
