Moscow’s Victory Day parade reflects strains of a prolonged war with Ukraine | DW News


This year’s Victory Day parade in Red Square, marking the defeat of Nazi Germany, did not – as is traditional – showcase heavy artillery and tanks. Fearing Ukrainian drone attacks, authorities tightened security. With Russian troops now having fought in Ukraine longer than the Soviet Union fought in the Second World War, defense expert Domitilla Sagramoso told DW’s Gerhard Elfers that Moscow’s armed forces are stretched. We also spoke to our former Moscow bureau chief Juri Rescheto.
