Moeti explores black womanhood through Art
Multi-disciplinary artist Selloane Moeti, based in KwaZulu-Natal, creates work rooted in ancestral memory, spirituality, and dreamscape.
Her practice draws on rituals of prayer, lineage, and feminine kinship to explore themes of belonging, healing and memory, with a focus on Black womanhood and sisterhood across domestic and metaphysical spaces.
A co-founder of Sketchin’, a figure drawing initiative supporting emerging artists in Durban and rural KwaZulu-Natal, Moeti has been recognised with the KZN Young Achiever Award in Visual Arts in 2018 and took first prize at the 2019 KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts Members’ Exhibition for her performance piece Bhodla Pt.2. She now joins us for more.
