Meet downtown Minneapolis’ last manual elevator operator

In downtown Minneapolis’ Young-Quinlan Building, Lee Bowser sees commuters through the ups and downs of their workdays.

He’s most likely the last elevator operator in Minnesota to serve an office building.

The 65-year-old, whose tenure with the building goes back to 1985, can be found ferrying people up and down in the century-old, pewter-and-brass car every Tuesday through Thursday.
