Massive #hailstorm covers Polish city with large #ice balls
Winter now starts in August? A violent hailstorm swept through the Polish city of Chorzów, burying streets under a thick blanket of ice and dropping visibility to near zero.
The intense weather event prompted a wave of startled reactions online, with one local saying: “It felt like the windows were going to break; there was such a loud bang.”
The storm was linked to a supercell that moved across the region and produced intense rainfall and hailstones reaching up to 5 centimeters in diameter.
The Polish State Fire Service recorded 1,124 interventions nationwide in connection to the storms.
