A fishing boat capsized off Bare Island at La Perouse in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, claiming the life of a man in his 60s who suffered cardiac arrest despite CPR efforts. His 74-year-old companion survived by clinging to floating debris and was rescued by civilian divers before being taken to Prince of Wales Hospital with minor injuries. Neither man was believed to be wearing a life vest when a wave flipped their vessel approximately 10 metres offshore in an area known for dangerous bombora waves.
