A 39-year-old man has been arrested over an alleged assault on a 65-year-old pharmacist in St Kilda, accused of punching the victim in the face after being confronted for shoplifting. The suspect was apprehended at a Werribee pub where he was reportedly behaving erratically. In a separate incident, an arsonist used two jerry cans to set fire to a display home in Ballarat, pouring a fuel trail from inside the property to the driveway before igniting it, with the offender still at large despite police locating the getaway vehicle.
