Madlanga Commission | Warrant Officer Karl Sander continues his testimony over missing R200m drugs

A warrant officer attached to the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal will continue to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry held at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria this morning. Yesterday, Karl Sander’s testimony focused on the mysterious disappearance of 540 kilograms of cocaine from the Isipingo police station, south of Durban in November 2021. It later emerged that the over 200-million-rands’ worth of drugs had been taken to a Hawks storage facility in Port Shepstone.

Evidence before the Madlanga Commission has revealed that the Hawks facility did not have sufficient security detail to house the consignment. The storage facility was picked by suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Head General Lesetja Senona. His choice of a storage facility has raised questions about his alleged involvement in the missing consignment. SABC News Reporter Canny Maphanga is in Pretoria and joins us live.
