Lt-Gen Dyantyi vows to crack down on gun violence

Newly-appointed Western Cape Police Commissioner, Lt-Gen Sizakhele Dyantyi, says the focal points of his tenure will be the reduction of gun violence and gender-based violence, as well as strengthening police stations in the Western Cape.

His appointment, announced earlier today, will come into effect on the 1st of August.

Dyantyi takes over as the province’s top cop, at a time when communities, especially in townships and the Cape Flats, are buckling under extortion, mass murders and gang violence.

He has committed to working with all spheres of government to ensure the safety of communities.
