‘LOSING LIFELINE’: Israeli Leader ‘BEGS’ Trump Not To Cut Military Aid; ‘BOLT FROM THE BLUE’
Israeli President Isaac Herzog has expressed deep concern after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American military aid to Israel would end by the close of 2026. Calling the announcement a “bolt from the blue,” Herzog said the decision had caught Israel by surprise, particularly as the existing U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is supposed to remain in force until 2028. Herzog also linked the issue to Israel’s urgent need to form a new government, warning that relations with Washington are central to the country’s political and security priorities. Trump, meanwhile, claimed that he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed months ago to phase out roughly $4 billion in annual U.S. assistance, arguing that Israel no longer needs the funding.
