LIVE: NASA news conference on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope with agency leadership


The Roman Space Telescope is a NASA observatory designed to settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics. The telescope has a primary mirror that is 7.9 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter — the same size as the Hubble Space Telescope’s primary mirror.

The telescope is named after Nancy Grace Roman. Known as the “mother of the Hubble Space Telescope,” Nancy Grace Roman was born May 16, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee, and died December 25, 2018.
