LIVE: Midterms 2026 results, Capitol Hill power shift, Trump reacts, & more
Democrats have taken control of both chambers of Congress after voters appeared to rebuke Pres. Trump at the ballot box in Tuesday’s midterm elections. Tuesday night, Pres. Trump said Democrats did a “good job” and blamed Republican candidates for their losses.
Among the biggest wins for Democrats: Maine’s Senate seat, where Troy Jackson unseated Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican who had been in the seat for decades. In Kansas, Adam Hamilton defeated incumbent GOP Sen. Roger Marshall — a flip that has not happened in almost a century. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers in a hard fought and bitter race. In Texas, Gina Hinojosa defeated incumbent GOP Governor Greg Abbott, and James Talarico defeated Ken Paxton in another closely-watched race.
