LIVE: EU Top Diplomat Rebuffs Donald Trump; Kaja Kallas Woos India, Says It Is ‘Vital For Bloc’
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said India is vital for Europe. Kallas announced that the EU has adopted a new strategy to deepen its relations with India. Kallas said, “We are living in these very turbulent times, and we need to build partnerships… So deepening the ties also with India to really not push them to Russia’s corner was the agreement by the college.” Kallas also announced that “Closer European Union-India relations are vital for strengthening economic security and diversifying supply chains.” The foreign policy chief reiterated that the bloc’s goal is to adopt a joint roadmap at the EU-India summit in early 2026. Kallas’ reaction came days after the US president urged the EU to impose 100% tariffs on India for buying Russian oil.
