Limpopo | Emerging farmers can’t farm due to land invasion

More than 40 emerging farmers under the Tswelepelo Irrigation Scheme in Praktiseer, outside Burgersfort in Limpopo, are unable to farm due to land invasion.

They claim some dwellers continue to invade state-owned farms leased to emerging farmers.

The farmers are calling on the government to intervene.

They say the High Court issued an order in 2018 to remove the illegal dwellers, but the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development and the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Municipality have yet to act on it.
